Nowruz Celebration – March 19, 2021
Afghan Home USA in collaboration with ICNA Relief and AYRF, our community partners, organized a fun-filled event on March 19, 2022, celebrating the traditional Afghan New Year of Nowruz. Nowruz which means New Day marks the beginning of spring and is celebrated in Afghanistan and its neighboring countries as the start of the new calendar year. This celebration, which was held at Fort Hunt Park in Alexandria, Virginia was attended by a large gathering of Afghans including many of the recently settled families.
Food and live music was provided, and the attendees enjoyed traditional Afghan dances and songs. Families in need received care packages, and gifts were provided to the children.
A perfect spring day provided a pleasant atmosphere to celebrate the new year and the new beginning for many of our compatriots who have recently settled here and call this area home. Afghan Home USA has more such events planned for throughout the year and welcomes your participation.
